recently I was was hit by the issue demonstrated in https://askubuntu.com/questions/967061/firefox-keeps-resetting-pulse-volume-to-0 and this is a UX issue which FF should solve. What is happening here? I am not sure (exatly). Maybe the Tab was muted by me, or maybe it was muted by opening multiple YT tabs. Not sure. The point is: I start playing some YT video. And there is basically NO SOUND. I still CAN click on the audio settings of the audio player and change the volume. And I still don't hear anything. The YT audio icon is "apparently" not showing my audio status as muted, so I expect something to be audible. Next act: I open pavucontrol and see that there is an active stream from FF but the volume is 0. Why 0%? Dunno, I can change it to something and then I can her the sound. But only for a short while, after the track changes, the sound volume returns to 0% again. WAT? The mentioned askubuntu posting explains the reason for the strange behavior. But it's really surprising. And it's really hard to spot, the only indication of the mute-forcing behavior is a thin gray line in an icon of the tab. Please CHANGE THIS. Make the user aware of the brute-force-muting behaviour of FF by showing a flashy "soundblock" icon on that tab. AND: when $USER tried to change volume, it should be unmuted, not ignored.
