I found that I had all device_file options for sda, sdb and sdc in ~/.config/udiskie/config.yml set to "ignore: true". sdd was ok, and that was where removeable drives ended up until I removed hard drives sdb and sdc. Removeable drives then went to sdb, which was ignored.
