The workaround is to run the application in a Xephyr environment
(package xserver-xephyr), which seems to be without hardware acceleration.
Example for how to use the workaround:
Xephyr :99 -resizeable
Debugging into it:
It seems to be related to the GPU. On my Desktop -- using a nvidia GTX 3060Ti
