Apologies. The problem was caused by an attempt to update linphone from an unstable package which updated some qt packages. Reverting that cleared the problem with twinkle.
SO it lloks as if twinkle will need to be recompiled for the new qt stuff in unstable, but it is currently fine on testing. I will attempt to close this bug. ael
