Package: apticron
Version: 1.2.7
Severity: wishlist

I would argue that apticron should default to apt-listchanges showing
news rather than changelog entries just like apt does.

I suppose this would happen automatically if bug 1052514 were fixed as
I propose, i.e., if news were made the default in apt-listchanges.
Whether or not that happens, though, I believe apticron and apt should
be consistent by default.

I don't know if this is feasible, but I'd argue that the ideal
behavior would be for apticron to use the "apticron" apt-listchanges
profile if it exists, or the "apt" profile otherwise.

If there is interest in this I could try to put together a patch.
However, considering that apticron bugs I submitted two and a half
years ago with patches (bug 985794, bug 985795) haven't had any
activity, perhaps this package is not being actively maintained? Would
it help if I offered to help with maintaining the package?
