I tried replacing the tags that failed to display in xmms using the package "easytag-acc" and failed, but the package "tagtool" set to provide both supported IDV3 tags worked, and now I see track titles correctly in xmms.
I still have problems with the play list not displaying characters starting with the "ú" in a song entitled "Andúril".
