I've encoutered the same problem trying to install debian on i945 chipset (Asus
P5LD2 mainboard).
I've had no disks found using standard installation disks and after replacing
the kernel with 2.6.15.4 I get the same error.
I've replaced the kernel on netboot server and on CD and the result is

Have you tried booting the CD with "linux26" ?
