Why does /var/backups/dc=jamux,dc=com-2.2.23-1.ldapdb exist, and what are its contents? Severity downgraded, because the above is a deliberate safety check in the code to prevent destroying backups on error. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer `---- I'm sorry my reply is so late. I see no sign of the above message in my incoming mail nor in my logs. The error started with the recent upgrade. I had not previously used nor configured slapd apart from the installation. Subsequently I only looked at the docs. At least once since the failed upgrade I deleted that directory and re-ran aptitude dist-upgrade. I have the following from a backup tape ,----[ ls -l /var/backups/dc=jamux,dc=com-2.2.23-1.ldapdb ] total 484 -rw------- 1 root root 8192 Apr 1 17:16 __db.001 -rw------- 1 root root 270336 Apr 1 17:16 __db.002 -rw------- 1 root root 98304 Apr 1 17:16 __db.003 -rw------- 1 root root 368640 Apr 1 17:16 __db.004 -rw------- 1 root root 24576 Apr 1 17:16 __db.005 -rw------- 1 root root 8192 Apr 14 16:42 dn2id.bdb -rw------- 1 root root 32768 Apr 14 16:42 id2entry.bdb -rw------- 1 root root 54302 Apr 14 16:42 log.0000000001 -rw------- 1 root root 8192 Apr 1 17:16 objectClass.bdb `---- Before thinking to look at the Bug web interface, I did 'aptitude purge slapd' and 'aptitude install slapd' so I'm afraid I cannot provide more evidence on the bug.
