Package: nfs-kernel-server Version: 1:1.0.6-3.1 Severity: important Have have this "symptom" on several machines, And are struggling to find out what causes this. This happnes both on server running woody-based skolelinux/Debian-edu, and on servers running Sarge. The server running woody based Debian-edu are exporting the filesystem to Sarge-based Debian-edu workstations and Thin Client servers. Snice this Is a production environment, causing an unusable system for 300+ user (~200 workstations/thin-clients) I have set up a cron-job that checks every 5 minute: if rcp.statd is running if not rpc.mountd is running restart nfs-kernel-server mail me fi fi
This happens every week or so. I've tried to look through the logs when this happens, but I cant find any reason. But what I do find is this in /var/log/user.log: May 24 09:17:22 tjener rpc.mountd: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server... May 24 09:17:22 tjener rpc.mountd: nss_ldap: reconnected to LDAP server after 1 attempt(s) I have now found this twice after rpc.mountd has died. on the Woody-installation, I'm running nfs-kernel-server 1.0-2woody3 So this might me nss_ldap related. I've also seen this on one of the test-machines in my lab, running sarge. The clients in my lab are running lessdisks, And there mountd dies every time I reboot the lessdisks server. I'm not sure if lessdisks might does an unclean umount, but I think I can reproduce the situation here. I've turned on logging on my test-server: RPCMOUNTDOPTS="-d all" But I have yet to find any debugging information. When I run mountd in "non-daemon-mode", the services seems stable. Any help debugging this would be appreciated. version of libnss-ldap on the woody-machine: libnss-ldap 207-1.skolelinux.3 version of libnss-ldap on the sarge-machine: libnss-ldap 238-1 -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-x300 Locale: LANG=nb_NO, LC_CTYPE=nb_NO (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages nfs-kernel-server depends on: ii debconf 1.4.30.13 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-21 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libwrap0 7.6.dbs-8 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra ii nfs-common 1:1.0.6-3.1 NFS support files common to client ii sysvinit 2.86.ds1-1 System-V like init -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
