Package: sox Version: 12.17.7-2 Followup-For: Bug #311118 Ah crap. According to something I ran across at: --- http://music.columbia.edu/pipermail/linux-audio-user/2005-March/021793.html
it won't matter if sox is compiled with ALSA support or not with regards to using dmix. This seems to be because sox is using the ALSA kernel API directly instead of going through the libasound library. Now if we can only convince the author of sox to use libasound instead.... Sorry for the noise. ALSA support doesn't seem to matter either way at the moment unless someone really wants to keep their kernel to a minimum by not enabling the OSS emulation via ALSA. I just tried building sox from the package source with ALSA enabled, and it seems to work fine except for not being able to use dmix. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.11 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages sox depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libmad0 0.15.1b-2.1 MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.2-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libvorbis0a 1.1.0-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.1.0-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.1.0-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
