No, it definitely should not work as this would
cause cdrecord to fail.
Cdrecord even has been modified to allow 3 seconds as minimum
value in February to allow vold to calm down on the device
and to have better intercation with removable media managing.

It is annoying In the extreme that I cannot turn off the last chance to
quit delay. I know what I want the program to do, and it should just
get on with it. From the manpage, it appears that upstream deliberately put
this irritating
