Package: snmpd Version: 5.1.2-6.1 Severity: normal Hi,
in my opinion, the line com2sec paranoid default public in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf should be commented out by default. Rationale: - this line causes snmpd to provide read-only snmp access to the world with the well-known community "public" - it being present mandates a change of the dpkg conffile if it shuold be disabled, while enabling can be done from snmpd.local.conf, allowing to leave the dpkg-conffile unchanged Greetings Marc -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-zgserver Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages snmpd depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libsensors3 1:2.9.1-1 library to read temperature/voltag ii libsnmp5 5.1.2-6.1 NET SNMP (Simple Network Managemen ii libwrap0 7.6.dbs-8 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
