Dear Paul
Upstream has provided a patch[1] for this issue that I tested and found
that it works very well[2], which is now in debian nsis 2.08-3, which
I'll be uploading to debian mentors once I can find a fix for the
BgImage segfault.
Tested the examples again and those worked great.
Thanks,

Hi,
I tested all of the examples that come with 2.08, and found all of them
but 2 or so segfault for various reasons, or fail because of a weird

this bug as grave. You can read about this on the upstream forums here:

have the System.dll from 2.07 installed? Do the other Linux stubs
produce the same result? Any other clues? I'll investigate more
tomorrow.
Yes, that's true. I use System.dll from 2.08.

Package: nsis
Version: 2.08-2
Followup-For: Bug #319929
InstallOptions.dll is not usable on Windows. The dialog is not coming up.
filefunc.exe, logiclib.exe, textfunc.exe and textfunctest.exe produces
gpf's when compiled with linux-compiled zlib-stub. Windows stub works.
