1. uncheck on 'show visual effect when playing music file' option.
2. start tracing with following works :
$ MALLOC_CHECK_=2 gdb totem

That's interesting, however the crash happens

it's like due to the loads. as "goom" effect is heavy may be;
not to revoke the crash while playing some music(s), should not
apply visual effect to "goom".
but other effects can be applyed during the playing.
If I(or you) want to see "goom"
