I understand that maintaining packages is a time consuming process and that it can take a while to get around to bug reports, but I would hope that in the 1 year and 317 days since this bug was first opened there would have been at least a single comment of some sort from the maintainer.
If there are no plans to apply this patch then by all means say so and close this bug.
