I found the problem, I had the following line on my /etc/openvpn/server.conf:
"status /var/log/openvpn/status.log" I commented it out (thus making the status go into /var/run/openvpn.server.status) and now I can do a "/etc/init.d/openvpn restart" just fine. I still think it is a bug in the init script though... -- Carlos Rodrigues
