Since libfreetype6 is going to be going away soon and blackbox depends on it, this bug is de facto severity: grave for etch. It would be better if you apply David's patch to allow blackbox to disentangle itself from Xft now, rather than later, so that we have less of a mess when the time does come for libfreetype6 to change its name.
