I sponsored the package upload of showeq to experimental for Bob
Tanner back in 2003. Since then, he's updated and maintained the
package in his own custom Debian archive. He's starting to receive
bugs to this package, which is quite obsolete now. Recent showeq
packages are at 5.3.x instead of 5.0.0.x. I offered to upload the new
package, which he declined stating that the software changes too much.
It would be more of a hassle for me than it's worth, considering that
he already maintains a package outside Debian.

I suggested that he request the package be removed from the Debian
archive, but since I uploaded it, I am placing that request.

I am attaching the email he sent to me regarding this request.

Please ask the ftp maintainers to remove showeq from the servers.

How do I "close" the bugs filed against the 5.0.0.14? Close might not be th=
e=20
right option.

Nothing to you with you.

Layers of crap.=20

=46irst, is the program should really only be in experimental, it changes s=
o=20
rapidly, that anything else would be a disservice to the debian community.

Second, the changes are "deep" impacting things, the type of things that yo=
u=20
really find hard to back-port to a stable version.

Third, -I- feel guilty asking you to upload these things since the package=
=20
changes so rapidly, you'd be sponsoring new uploads several times a week.

=46ourth, maintaining a custom repository with some of the tools out there =
isn't=20
difficult and lets me control everything myself without having to burden=20
others.
