Have you found the problem? Is this still a problem for you in
1.5.0.x?
Otherwise, please verify that you have not overwritten the global
setting (which would be in /etc/thunderbird/auto-config.js) neither in
/etc/thunderbird/global-config.js nor in user_prefs.js (prefs.js?)
in your $HOME/.mozilla-thunderbird/xxxx directory.
