Just as a pointer for myself: Much easier than any XInclude solution:
!ENTITY papersize SYSTEM /etc/papersize
xsl:variable name=my.papersizepapersize;/xsl:variable
And then we can evaluate the my.papersize variable.

I would suggest to write an update-papersize.xml script (in pure
/bin/sh to avoid additional dependencies), that generates a file
/etc/papersize.xml from /etc/papersize and could be automatically
called when

[xi:include textfile to XSL stylesheet variable]
Seems, both saxon 6.5.5 and xalan 2.6.0 can handle my stylesheet code

Quoting Daniel Leidert [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
[docbook-xsl: fo-output and /etc/papersize]
Not sure, how difficult this will be or if it will be possible in the
way I think
Package: docbook-xsl
Version: 1.68.1.dfsg.1-0.2
Severity: minor
I'm producing an FO file via:
$ xsltproc /usr/share/xml/docbook/stylesheet/nwalsh/fo/docbook.xsl \
input.dbk output.fo
Making portrait pages on USletter paper (8.5inx11in)
Independent of the content of the system-wide
severity 382505 wishlist
merge 173093 382505
thanks
