Hi, I have no LDAP, Kerberos etc - standard debian testing install.
I hit this issue after system upgrade - I found fix in this bug report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=466741 Solution was to do following: #chown root:shadow /etc/shadow Regards Greg
