I have searched for the package that creates inetd.conf both in etch/Linux and hurd and cannot find any. If I do a "dpkg --search inetd.conf" on either system it returns just the man page.
I looked into the contents of netbase-4.25 on Linux and found no mentiof of the inetd.conf file either in the files themselves (dpkg --extract netbase...) nor in the control files scripts (dpkg --control netbase...). I went through a businesscard install of etch/Linux (2006/10/06) and noted that the inetd.conf file was created when the base system files were put to disk. Again, "dpkg --search inetd.conf" does not return listing for the /etc/inetd.conf file. I searched other packages trying to find mention of inetd.conf but could not find it. I am a newbie so am probably missing something obvious. I hope to track down the problem in the hurd-i386 distribution and perhaps help with fixing on my own, but cannot find out where the inetd.conf file is created on Linux either. The installer seems to create it without leaving any traces behind in the packages installed. If you want me to move this to mailing lists I will. I do understand that Hurd is not a high priority. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
