Because it's there only due to a bug in debian-cd that puts all the
*dm's on all CDs that have any, apparently.

xdm was added to the xfce-desktop task in tasksel 2.60 and should be on
the next build of the image.

I've done a test install on my low memory system, using the
complete cd xfce image from testing (that one which installs
xfce4 by default).
Installation went well so far, only one suggestion:
wdm should be included in that task to have graphical login
screen available.
