Here is vanilla 2.6.21-1-amd64 with no out-of-tree modules crashing. I also had it lockup with no messages logged at all previously.
In this case I set the governor to userspace and set the frequency to 1GHz manually, rather than using 'ondemand'. The crashes seem to be essentially random so perhaps I should be looking for a hardware fault. However it's totally stable (for months now) at 2.2GHz.
