Starting Tomcat servlet engine: tomcat5.5invoke-rc.d: initscript
tomcat5.5, action start failed.
can you send the contents of the log files in /var/log/tomcat5.5, and also the
output seen in /var/log/tomcat5.5/catalina.out as you start Tomcat.
Does this also happen if you do

This is a known problem, fixed in sid. I think the reason is the set -e near
the top of /etc/init.d/tomcat5.5. You can try removing that line as a
workaround.
(Or preferably upgrade to the version in sid, since there are a number of
