    Thanks for your interest. Actually I think it's a pretty good idea, but
I'd like to change a couple of things:

    1) First, I'd like to use "dhelp" instead of ".dhelp" for the files.
If they're going to be in a special directory in /var/cache/* anyway, I don't
see any reason to "hide" them.
    2) Second, I'd also like to close #81405 ("Add sources"), so instead of
harcoding the directories, I'll simply search for dhelp files in a
(configurable) directory list, defaulting to /usr/share/doc and
/var/lib/doc-base/dhelp (and looking for both .dhelp and dhelp files in both
cases). Is that OK with you?

Also, how are we going to manage the dependencies? Are you going to update the
Conflicts to point to the new version?

    And finally, you said you also checked for the validity of the arguments,
but I don't find anything for that in your patch, did you forget to include
it?
