An intermediate solution that you might want to apply is to merge the PCI ID list for the sound card sound_intel_hda from kernel 2.6.23. I think that this should be safe. For my case, the list is in the source file sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c Accessing that source file from online Torvalds' GIT
