Anyway, I'm chatting now with someone who as in the real name the character "_" followed by another letter. If I right-click on his nickname and select the first entry in the popup menu (which should display nickname's information), the real name is shown without the dash, but with an underline under the following character.
Couldn't this be due to GTK+, that interprets the dash as a shortcut symbol? I think that the solution could be just disabling shortcuts for that menu entry.
