Package: vim-gui-common
Version: 1:7.1-231+1
Severity: normal

Hello Debian VIM Maintainers,

The file /usr/share/menu/vim-gui-common reads
?package(vim-gui-common,gvim):needs="x11"               \
        section="Applications/Editors"                  \
        title="GVIM"                                    \
        longtitle="GVIM, graphical Vi IMproved"         \
        command="/usr/bin/gvim -f"                      \
        icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/vim-32.xpm"            \
        icon32x32="/usr/share/pixmaps/vim-32.xpm"       \
        icon16x16="/usr/share/pixmaps/vim-16.xpm"

However gvim is a virtual package. ?package only look at real package,
so in effect this entry is never active.

Furthermore, it is possible to install two packages providing gvim at
once and it could be nice to have a menu entry for each instead of
only one pointing to an unspecied incarnation of gvim.

So I would suggest you remove this entry and add an entry for vim-gtk,
vim-gnome and vim-lesstif with a different title each.

Cheers,
