I've reported a bug concerning the documentation problem:

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=608079

A README file is necessary, but with such a change alone, most
users wouldn't be aware that updates / update notifications are not
automatic. A warning in the package description won't change much
(most users don't read the package description of all the packages
they install). A warning in the postinst script would be better
(together with some EULA warning).

I certainly don't want completely automatic installations. However
such a script (and/or a script that just notifies the user about an
update) could be either provided as an optional config file or given
as an example (in the /usr/share/doc/flashplugin-nonfree/examples
directory). My bug report addresses this point.
