I have reproduced this in my experimental chroot and have attatched the config.log. Strangely the CFLAGS that dpkg-buildpackage claims to be using do not seem to match up with the on the compiler is complaining about. dpkg-buildpackage: set CFLAGS to default value: -g -O2 dpkg-buildpackage: s
