even the upstream author does not seem to think c-ares should be enabled by default, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=481189 Please disable c-ares for now, it is causing serious regressions. I'm certain more people use IPv6 than benefit from asynchronous resolving. Bernhard
