unfortunately, qct development has essentially ground to a halt. A
developer did offer to implement a native git back-end for qct, but I
haven't heard from him in several months.

qct is indeed still using cogito (cg) when dealing with git repo.
However, cogito is stopped and wont be in the next Debian release (lenny).
A quick workaround is to install the cogito package from stable (etch).
