I discovered, that ALL applications, which are running at the moment, when
the Save Settings-button is pressed, are mentioned to ksmserverrc.
This happens at logout.
ALL running applications are marked with a comma, so at next start they will
not be loaded (yes, kwin, too !).
Solution
Hi all,
I found out, that there might be in the file
~/.kde/share/config/ksmserverrc the reason for this behaviour.
In this file there are some lines, like these:
...
...
...
program1=kwin
program2=konsole
restartCommand1=kwin,-session,117f010001047192411001074
Hi Ana,

So I came back home, downgraded my desktop and... it didnt work O.o
Still had this problem. But i remembered that I played with some
session settings at work. Setting Restore manually saved session and
then Save session in menu did the trick. Did some reboots and
logoffs, returned to Restore

Hello,
I've got a fresh KDE3 installation (32 bit here).
kwin misses there everytime to start - I've to launch it with kdeinit
kwin first which is realy annoying and far from usability.
