The DVD can be mounted/umounted normally on the host system. Further
information:
Virtualbox can only use this CD if it is not yet mounted. When the disk is
umounted it works flawlessly.
Can you please test and verify?

The [pulldown menu] does not list any devices. However the Debian
installer had put this to /etc/fstab
