Hello,

  Regarding LP 144468 (https://launchpad.net/bugs/144468), you fixed it  
  by removing hard and soft ulimits for locked-in-core memory before 
  running slmodemd.

  Someone on Debian, commented (http://bugs.debian.org/511996) on this
  fix that assigning unlimited locked memory can give the process the
  ability to lock the whole machine: dropping the privileges loses then
  part of its sense.

  He suggests that instead of making the locked-in-core memory
  unlimited, it would better be limited to 8 or 16 MB. I wonder if you
  got comments regarding this.
