Sorry for the late response.. About your bug report: I'm the upstream author of BitlBee so I know exactly what it does. :-) But explaining what it does in one sentence is hard. Looks like the current description is confusing?
What do you suggest me? You're right that it's kind of what transports are on Jabber, but that doesn't seem like the right way to explain it (not everyone knows what transports are).
