Package: shorewall

Running: Debian Lenny Stable

Startup is set to Yes in /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf

Startup is set to 1 in /etc/default/shorewall

IP forwardning is set to On in /etc/default/shorewall.conf

I am experiencing the same problem, ipv4 forwarding does not work at all, I
am using the three-interface-examples from

/usr/share/doc/shorewall-common/examples/three-interfaces

When attempting to start shorewall using the shorewall.conf from the
examples directory, I am getting the error message, that it cannot touch
/var/lock/subsys/shorewall and the firewall process instantly stops.

Then I tried to create the 'subsys' folder in /var/lock and shorewall
started without any problems, but the problem that ipv4 forwarding is not
working still remains.

# ls /etc/rcS.d /* gives back the following */
