Package: rsyslog Version: 3.18.6-4 Severity: normal
the documenattion claims \ooo-style esacpes are supported for templates. however, an attempt to configure rfc5424-style remote syslog with utf-8 messages: $template remote,"<46>1 %timegenerated:::date-rfc3339% %HOSTNAME% - - - - \357\273\277%msg%\n" fails, as rsyslog doesn'T seem to be 8-bit clean: <46>1 2009-03-26T09:56:01.315393+00:00 xy - - - - e pam_unix... (note the "e ", which is caused by the escapes). trying to add a verbatim byte-order mark in the config file only caused an extra space to be generated. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (700, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.28-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
