Package: rsyslog
Version: 3.18.6-4
Severity: normal

the documenattion claims \ooo-style esacpes are supported for templates.

however, an attempt to configure rfc5424-style remote syslog with utf-8
messages:

$template remote,"<46>1 %timegenerated:::date-rfc3339% %HOSTNAME% - - - -
\357\273\277%msg%\n"

fails, as rsyslog doesn'T seem to be 8-bit clean:

   <46>1 2009-03-26T09:56:01.315393+00:00 xy - - - - e pam_unix...

(note the "e ", which is caused by the escapes).

trying to add a verbatim byte-order mark in the config file only caused an
extra space to be generated.
