As of the latest version in testing. This is kind of important to me personally, as I rely on this behavior. It used to happen just by default, with no configuration required. A good candidate for where one *should* be able to configure this behavior is in the Configuration -> Edit Accounts... -> Edit dialog, where in the "Basic" tab one finds a "Protocol" dropdown list. And in that list there is currently a "None (local)" option.
