Package: freevo

My geometry was set to 768x576 at install time (/etc/freevo/freevo.conf)

freevo was working fine on my monitor.

I then decided to try it on my TV screen, which is another X display, 720x576.

The freevo interface works, menus appear, etc.

However, when a channel is selected (or a media file for playback), there is a blank screen for a few moments, about 100ms of sound is heard, and then the freevo screen appears again.

During the startup of freevo, there is no warning to stdout, stderr or the log file. When mplayer is invoked, there is no warning either.

Some suggestions:
- At the very least, errors such as this must be logged
- freevo should even refuse to run if the geometry doesn't match the display
- it would also be nice to have a freevo screen on the TV that says `mplayer failed with a non-zero return code, please check the log' or something similar. The log should record the actual return code, the mplayer command that was invoked, and any messages from mplayer on stdout/stderr
