So, this is now different exception, which I can't seem to be able to
reproduce on sid. What java version are you using ?
Here, paros runs fine with both openjdk's and Sun's java6:
~ # /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java -Duser.dir=$HOME/.paros -cp
Sebastian,
The first one worked i.e., I got no error - just the prompt back.
For the second one, I get:
# /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java -Duser.dir=$HOME/.paros -cp

working would be paros starting up. Check the return code with echo
$? after you get the prompt back.
# /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java -Duser.dir=$HOME/.paros -cp
Sebastian,
I don't know why, but now the first command has launched Paros,
running as normal user.
It launches the paros GUI.
The second command gives an error, as does /usr/bin/paros
The details are below:
$ java -version
java version 1.6.0_0
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.5pre)
reassign 532194 openjdk-6-jre
found 532194 6b14-1.5~pre1-5
fixed 532194 6b16-2
thanks

because as I pointed out, root didn't have ~/.paros, whereas your user
has
tag + moreinfo unreproducible
thanks
Hi John,
after installing a package, I often run something like dpkg -L package
| grep /bin/ to figure out what binaries are provided to me by said
package.
In our case, to use paros, I simply run /usr/bin/paros; this is all you
should have to do. If that's
Package: paros
Version: 3.2.13-1
Severity: normal
I installed paros proxy with aptitude install paros.
After some googleing, I found that to start Paros, I needed to use
sh /usr/share/paros/startserver.sh
This told me that it could not find the file paros.jar,
so I edited to the file to
