The same problem also happens with the Greek rho character (ρ), I've posted a similar bug to launchpad a week before this bug was filed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dash/+bug/382541 I verified that the problem with rho also exist in Debian, so I'm cross-linking the 2 bug reports in
