Ok, here's a thing you can try. I know of a weird bug with wicd and
some drivers, causing random disconnections and other weird
behaviour when the signal strenght (is|is not) measured in dBm.
Can you please try switching that option, and see if

Does this happen with 1.7.0 too? The original bugreport was about
1.6.2.2 (and I haven't had the time to re-triage all the bugs yet,
exams at University).
