Gary, I just came across the same problem today. It appears to be a feature in the firmware of the drive. Here's a link I found about disabling it. http://www.msfn.org/board/lg-gh22ns50-bluebirds-removal-tool-t135300.html Unfortunately the fix is for a Windows system so I haven't tried it
