I found that grace versions: 1:5.1.22-1, 1:5.1.22-2 and 1:5.1.22-3 are effected by this bug. That is why it is rather due to recent upgrades of some libraries than to grace itself. I run Debian testing (squeeze). Solution: downgrading xserver to that from Debian stable release fixes the
