Hi,
I'm the Debian maintainer of python-jabberbot, depending of python-xmpp
(called xmpppy by the upstream).
The Debian package python-xmpp triggers DeprecationWarnings with
Python2.6 on some modules and functions (md5,sha,socket.ssl) meaning the
code is severely outdated.
I saw that the developement of xmpppy was stalled on the CVS repository
from which the Debian package took its source from. But it seems to have
a new Git repository, really active (last commits by Gabriel Ebner and
Norman Rasmussen, CC in this email) which solves the issues I mentioned
and could be a new upstream for the Debian package, because it seems to
be an official source for xmpppy. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If I can help to upgrade the python-xmpp package, please let me know.
