I can confirm this bug,
it happened recently (approximatively 1 month ago).
it makes the application unusable (the "left|right merge" buttons are
missing).
I don't know if the issue is related to a meld update or a meld
dependency update.

I'm reporting this as a single problem, as I suspect that both
symptoms have the same root cause.
Meld is missing some user interface elements -- I get only the "New",
"Up", "Down" and "Stop" buttons. There are no "Save" buttons. The
