Package: xdg-utils
Version: 1.0.2+cvs20100307-2
Severity: normal

the gnome menu of my recent squeeze installation periodically is missing
entries added by third party packages such as google-chrome using xdg-desktop-
menu install

this applies to a number of third party applications that use xdg-desktop-menu
install to add a menu entry to the gnome menu

immediately after installation, the menu items are shown

after a while, those menu entries disappear and can be reinstated issuing as
root, for each application, the command:
xdg-desktop-menu install /opt/somewhere/something.desktop
