I like to believe that you are an ignorant that wants no bug regarding udev. When the kernel suddenly cannot determine the filesystem there is going something wrong. The hardware is absolutely O.K. The same USB-Drive on the same USB-Port works perfect in Debian Lenny. So here is something broken in Squeeze! It doesn't help that you will not believe it. I will adress this bug to the kernel now. Maybe you will believe it when the kernel team says it is an udev problem?
